Jen and Paul’s Wedding at Cannon Beach
Last fall, when I met up with Jen and Paul for their engagement session at McMenamin’s Edgefield, the weather forecast was grim. That day, all over Portland it poured. Absolutely poured, and yet we lucked out with a 2 hour span of window of sun! I was so psyched about this, that I shared my theory on engagement sessions, weddings, and weather. My theory is that whenever I have a sunny engagement session, the wedding is sunny. Whenever I have a rainy engagement session, the wedding is rainy. This kind of luck would be needed for March, at Jen and Paul’s “destination wedding” at Cannon Beach.
So, for 15 days before their wedding, I checked the forecast for Cannon Beach. I’m the type of person to look up every forecasting website until I find one with a forecast I like. Well, every forecast said rain. As the wedding got closer, I obsessively looked at the hourly forecast. Rain. Chance of Rain. Oi. What was the forecast the morning of? SUN! The theory holds true! Hooray!
Aside from the amazing weather we had, along with the chance to photograph formals outside with Cannon Beach as a backdrop, the wedding was super fun. They had their ceremony at the Cannon Beach Community Presbyterian Church and reception and Cannon Beach Community Hall. Once dinner was over (yes, they had amazing, amazing, roasted potatoes), dancing began.
Ah yes, the dancing… Jen and Paul had told me there would definitely be cowboy boots and country music at the wedding. What they didn’t mention was the DANCING that would happen. I was taking pictures of guests amongst the tables, when I heard from behind the sounds of loud stomps. What was happening? Two of the bridesmaids, in their cowboy boots, were getting flipped around in the air, landing on two feet, only to be flipped back up again. Ridiculous. FYI, with much credit to Kathryn, I am a fan of country music, and now, thanks to Jen and Paul’s wedding guests, I’m a total fan of country music at weddings.
As Jen and her ladies were all ready and walking along the streets of Cannon Beach…
Paul was busy writing up his vows as his groomsmen waited by.
