Rachel and Po Po’s Wedding at the Resurrection Lutheran Church
Rachel and Po Po were married at the Resurrection Lutheran Church in Portland. The day started out great and ended great. Rachel was super organized during the planning, so there was plenty of time to get ready, take photos, and have an easy lunch before the ceremony. The ceremony was sweet, with nice words from the pastor, singing from all the guests (it impressed me that everyone knew the songs), lighting of the candles, and readings done in both English and Karin.
After the ceremony, they had a dessert reception! That’s right, dessert. They had tarts, pastries, fruit plates, and, best of all, an ice cream bar! Guests signed the large paper sheets covering the reception tables with crayon drawings and messages for the couple, and tulip bulbs were handed out as wedding favors. Lastly, the couple rode off on a tandem bike, a great surprise for everyone!
There were a whole bunch of personal touches added to this wedding. The headpiece that Rachel wore under her veil was a family heirloom.
Rachel and Po Po opted to do a First Look (yay!). We brought Po Po into the church, and then Rachel came up from behind him. Some silence passed, until she called in the softest voice, “Po Po.” Cuteness.
The fabric for the bridal party’s clothes were picked out by the couple, and sewn by very talented family members.
Purple and green was the color theme, carried on by the wedding party and family members.
They had some wicked awesome florals at this wedding.
As random as a keyboard of a wooden organ may seem, those who know me know my love of organs. I had to include it.
Po Po gave a little wave at the very end.
Dessert reception, my dream come true.
Ice cream bar, how awesome is that?
The “toasts” were made with ice cream sundaes 🙂
“Where love is planted, flowers bloom.” I love weddings favors that last, such as tree starts or flower seeds/bulbs.
Nothing like a dessert reception to bring you back to the days of crayons.
Rachel and Po Po’s surprise.
They made their exit via tandem bike! The guests were pleasantly surprised.
After the wedding, we met up with Rachel and Po Po for shoot in a park.
They changed into comfy sneakers and Rachel had a cute white summer dress.
