2010 Vancouver Lake Half Marathon
This weekend Ben, Tara, and I went to cheer on Annie and friends running the Vancouver Lake Half Marathon. Annie made a tough goal of running it under 1:45, a PR for her, to qualify for the New York Marathon. It was a miserable day for volunteers and spectators, cold and raining. For the runners, it dried up in the middle and was a perfect temperature, until the wind picked up and then the rain began to POUR. I had a tough time taking pictures and staying dry at the same time. At one point, the wind blew my umbrella inside out. I was so focused on taking photos that I didn’t notice I was collecting rain above me. That had to be a ridiculous sight. I hope I didn’t distract any runners out there!
Jesse McChesney got first place overall with a time of 1:09:37.
Kelly Jaske got first place Women’s with a time of 1:12:48. Typo? No! She’s THAT fast! She got 7th overall!
Chuck Coats got first place Men’s Masters with a time of 1:17:23. I believe he said that Kelly is the only woman who continues to beat him.
Wendy Terris got second place Women’s with a time of 1:23:23. She also placed first in Women’s Masters. NICE.
Photos are at maicamera. Notables are below.
Leader pack at the 3rd mile water station. Yup, Kelly is with them!

Have I mentioned that I love it when people wave to me?
My sister beat her goal by 16 seconds, yay! The rest of our friends also reached their goals and PR’d.
They all got prize mugs for placing top 6 in their age groups (with top 10 race leaders not included).
