Rain and snow came to Yosemite on Sunday, but before leaving Yosemite, we decided on a visit to Mariposa Grove. When we left the valley floor, the road to Mariposa was open. However, in the hour it took us to drive there, the road closed. The ranger told us that it was definitely not opening today, but we could walk the two miles up if we’d like. We opted for that instead of heading home. Because of this closure, the grove was nearly empty! We felt as though we had the place to ourselves. Sadly, because we had not schedule a 2 mile hike, we were strapped for time and couldn’t see much. On our walk back, we found out that the road was opening.

Having fun in the road. 30 seconds before we decided to set up this shot, a park ranger came by in a truck telling us the road was about to open.

There’s this “Facedown Tuesday” phenomenon going on at Flickr.com. I decided to do this for them.
